Giving to HWS

Philanthropy is a key ingredient for excellence in education at Haleakala Waldorf School.

Haleakala Waldorf School meets about 80% of its annual budget with tuition. Beyond tuition, HWS relies upon the generosity of many supporters who understand the necessity of philanthropy to fill the remaining 20% gap in operational expenses.

To accomplish our goals, HWS relies upon the support and involvement of our entire community (board members, faculty and staff, parents, grandparents, alumni and friends) through a coordinated series of fundraising activities. Every family is an important shareholder in this unique community that nurtures our children. Your philanthropic participation is essential in making a difference!

Additionally, there are many other opportunities to give at Haleakala Waldorf school whether it be your time through volunteerism, a special project you are interested in supporting, resources you have to share, or estate giving.

The Annual Fund

Kuleana

Responsibility is all about we

The Annual Fund is HWS’ most important fundraising activity of the year. It is a yearly appeal to all members of our community to make tax-deductible contributions that help ensure the best possible education for our children by supporting the current operations of the school. These gifts improve the daily life of every student and every faculty member in a variety of ways including enhanced academic programs, tuition assistance, quality materials in the classrooms, professional development for our teachers and more. Our goal this year is to raise $125,000.  Participation by every family is important! 100% participation is very important for Foundation funding to be awarded to HWS and community support in other activities. Please contact the Advancement Office at 878-2511 for more information, and help us keep excellence at hand.

Scholarship Programs

Mette Lyons Scholarship Fund

This fund was established in 2001 by Michael H. Lyons, loving husband of Mette Lyons, a 19-year Kindergarten Assistant here at Haleakala Waldorf School. When the fund has grown to an appropriate size, interest from the endowment will be used for tuition assistance. Please consider including bequest to this fund in your estate planning.

Endowment

HWS welcomes gifts in memory or in honor of a student, a faculty or staff member, a beloved family member or a friend. This is a thoughtful way to honor a person’s life or acknowledge a specific accomplishment. Memorial and Tribute gifts will be recognized in our Annual Report.
